Joseph Jackson was born and raised in Modesto, California where he grew up playing water polo, and swimming. With his natural love of the water the U.S. Navy seemed to be the natural choice for this patriot when the time came to enlist.
“Doc” joined the Navy in 2004, after bootcamp he attended hospital corps “A” school from March- July of 2004. He then attended field medical service school from July-October of 2004. Joseph was then assigned to the 1st Marine Division. Joseph was with the regimental combat team 5 as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class serving in Fallujah Iraq when he was hit by serval IED blasts.
Joseph suffered a traumatic brain injury, and was medically retired from the Navy in 2009.
Today you can find “Doc” surfing the West Coast working with wounded veterans to get them reconnected to their communities and into the water.
