This year on September 28th the Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley will host the second annual Take The Rock Veteran Swim Challenge. The 1.3 mile open water swim from Alcatraz will finish in the Aquatic Park of San Francisco and should have over 75 participants. They charge nothing to veterans and all are welcome regardless of physical limitations or swimming ability. The event is not just about the swim itself but also offers bi weekly swim training to participants for months leading up to the big day free of charge as well.
I intend to complete the swim in my old SAR kit (Mask/Fins/Snorkel/Wetsuit/Harness) to raise awareness and money for the Red Circle Foundation which provides quick response gap funding and enrichment scholarships to Special Operator and their families in times of need.
Brandon Webb, who started the charity, served as a Navy SEAL sniper and instructor for the clandestine “sniper cell” before he went on to help develop the course materials for the SEAL Sniper Program where he trained legendary SEALs like Chris Kyle and Marcus Luttrell He also proudly served as a SAR swimmer during his first enlistment. Much like myself, Mr Webb grew up in and around the water, and his story has been and continues to be a source of motivation to maintain focus discipline as well commitment in my life following my spinal injury. The fact that he speaks of the SAR community with such respect and admiration made the decision to work with his charity a no brainer.

Please see the Red Circle Foundation site for full tax deduction Intel and necessary codes for fund matching. I thank you in advance for your support, and I am honored to represent and raise awareness about such a worthy cause. Special Operations personnel volunteer for the most difficult training and assignments the military has to offer. They put their lives on the line daily to protect our freedom and great country for minimal compensation compared to the bureaucrats in Washington. There has NEVER, I say again NEVER, been a Special Operations shut down. They are always on watch, always on call, ready at a moments notice to do what has to be done. Please help me support their amazing families when they need it most.
